Spring Blooms in Goa
Each spring while passing by the Mandovi off Ribandar I keep my eye out for the Gulmohar to bloom by the whitewashed Chapel.
I remember that it was on my way to Bondla, up the hill to my left that I saw this Indian Laburnum, known as Amaltas in Hindi. Twenty minutes of scouring the hillside for laterite stones and ferrying them to the tree and I was ready with a precarious perch to photograph the flowers as they descended from the skies. A scooterist and a pillion stopped on the road below to watch what I was upto. When I was done taking the picture above I waved out to them, and they waved back. It was spring and I descended the hill leaving the Golden Shower behind me.

I remember when i was a kid , we used to make Holi color from Amaltas. I still remember the spring season with yellow, red , pink, white all around. It must have been a beautiful exp.:)
Your pics look so crisp !!
wow..the serene blue sky and the pretty yellow flowers...it needs just a bird...
Sam: Thank you. I didn't know that one could make holi colour out of Amaltas. However, it is known for a range of medicinal properties. Thank you.
Sush: A bird would be more than apt there :)

Hi anil, great pictures you've got there! Envy you.
Lovely and thoughtful attention to detail went into that decision ...photographs are strikingly beautiful
Bluemountainmama: Thank you. Gulmohars are in a league by themselves, and Amaltas are not far behind either.

Thank you for stopping by my blog. Your flowers are similar to ones that are in bloom here in Florida right now.
Beautiful pictures. I hope, some day, to make my dream trip to India (Bangalore and Goa) a reality.
Beautiful picture: the blue of the doors and windows matching the sky, and the white contrast with the orange of the tree are great!
One day I've definitely to visit Goa and the rest of India...
Thanks for your visit and comment to Blogtrotter.
This are all beautiful pictures!
I had to smile while I read your story about the pile of stones you had to build to get the perfect shot (and well worth it was!). Like you, I am beginning to try to remember certain spots to return to for that one special image.
I hope you will show us more pictures soon. :-)
Such beautiful photographs! I admire how you put yourself out on a limb to take the photo of the yellow flowers, Amaltas. :)
